Makeup Tips: Holiday Ideas Inspired By Celebrities (PHOTOS)

The holidays are no time for this no-makeup makeup business. Winter is all about glamorous eyes, sparkles and drama. How else are you going to seduce your single hot colleague at the annual office holiday party? (Kidding!)

This year, we look to some of the hottest beauty trends on the runway and our celebrity friends to create the best holiday beauty looks for the season.

Check out our holiday makeup tips:

*Story continues below the slideshow:*
*The Cat Eye*

Lanvin sent some killer cat eyes down the runway during fall 2013 previews, as did Michael Kors, Kenzo and Jason Wu (can you tell it's a trend?). Everyone had their own take on the dramatic eye and we’re thoroughly inspired. Celebrities we love who rock this temptress look include singer Ciara, actress Evan Rachel Wood and of course celebutante Kim Kardashian. We recommend a festive red dress and a nude lip for the perfect naughty Mrs. Claus look.

*A Red Lip*

Not everyone can pull off a red lip. (Even Jennifer Aniston has openly stated that she’ll never give the red pout a go due to her complexion.) But for those of us who want to try it this holiday season, you can glean some inspiration from Nina Ricci’s fall preview as well as Zac Posen and Marc by Marc Jacobs who all embraced red lips in various shades. As opposed to Jen, country crooner Taylor Swift is known for her affinity for red lips, as seen in her latest In Style cover where she looked especially holiday appropriate in green. In case you’re curious as to what her exact shade is, Swift uses Chanel Rouge Allure Lip Colour in Pirate.

*Glitter Eyes*

If ever there was a time to put glitter on your eyes, it’s the holiday season. It’s like we all save our one pot of gold glitter shadow for the winter and designers such as Thakoon, Chanel and Donna Karan granted our wish when they sent glitter-laden models down the catwalk. Glitter is also a hard look to get right because can end up looking like you broke into your mom’s makeup kit so you can pretend you be a Disney princess. To avoid looking gaudy, look to celebrities who have gotten glitter eyes right for inspiration, including actresses Emma Watson and Frieda Pinto and singer Katy Perry.

*Grey Eyes*

We're betting many girls’ makeup palettes look similar: Neutrals and pinks are popular while slate grey shades and bolder colours remain untouched. This holiday season, try playing with your grey eye shadow seeing as how Alexander Wang, Derek Lam and John Galliano all thought it was a novel idea. Actresses Garcelle Beauvais, Alexa Chung and Kate Mara all gave slate grey a go, achieving a subtle yet seductive look.

*Rosy Glow*

This gorgeous beauty trend is a must-have for winter because not only is it forgiving but it's also timeless. Matte faces might have been all the rage for a while but nothing looks healthier than a rosy glow on a fresh face. A cream blush will do the best job when trying to achieve this look, which was perfectly executed by supermodels Karlie Kloss and Jourdan Dunn.

*Burgundy And Wine Coloured Lips*

Watch out red lips, you have competition. The wine-coloured trend is perfect for winter 2013 and was seen at runway shows for Fendi, Rachel Zoe, Miu Miu and Vera Wang. If you can’t quite pull off red, perhaps burgundy is the colour for you. Emma Stone, J.Lo and Lana Del Rey looked pretty vampy wearing this rich cold weather hue.

*Braids*

The braid has become quite the beauty mainstay and comes in many forms so if you're still not sure how to style your hair, a braid is a good way to go. So trade in your messy summer beach braid for a more refined hairdo to go with your holiday look. Amanda Seyfried wore her hair in a classic braid while "Mad Men" star January Jones pinned up her short hair and incorporated braids for a fun holiday appropriate look.

*Slick Hair*

Tread carefully with this next trend. Slick wet hair was once, to put it gently, not a good look (at least in our books), but the light and slick hair trend can look next level chic as fashion girl P’Trique would say.

Unless you have a professional stylist at your beck and call, take the slick wet hair trend down a notch and get inspired by this Giambattista Valli look and create a slick ponytail using hair-taming products to ensure flyaways are tucked away. Model Bar Rafaeli wears her hair slick but not drenched in this totally wearable but high style ponytail whereas actresses Camilla Belle and Kiera Knightly also do it right with this slick side part look.

*Matte Nails*

Matte nails might just make a bigger beauty statement than glossy nails this winter. They may also create the perfect contrast with your glittery holiday cocktail dress. Don’t believe us? Well, the proof was on the Karen Walker runway, where models sported black nail lacquer with an OPI matte topcoat. Gwen Stefani, Eva Mendes and Gwyneth Paltrow are all huge fans of the look and have travelled the road less glossy with futuristic matte nails.

*Straight And Parted In The Middle*

The polished middle part was seen everywhere on the runway during the fall/winter 2013/14 collections and standouts included DKNY and Reed Krakoff. But you don't need to be a makeup artist to achieve the look; It’s fairly easy to pull off with the help of a comb and your trusty straightening iron. It’s also ideal for the winter season since humidity-induced frizz won’t factor in as much.

Victoria Justice, Sofia Vergara and Beyoncé have been known to swish around their long locks, sporting it straight and split right down the middle for a versatile and sleek beauty look. Reported by Huffington Post 10 hours ago.

Google Threatened With Lawsuit Over Hacked Nude Celebrity Photographs

An attorney representing some of the female celebrities whose private photos were stolen and posted online by hackers a little over one month ago is threatening to sue Google for failing to do enough to remove the images from its website, various media outlets reported on Thursday.

According to Reuters reporter Brendan Pierson, entertainment industry lawyer Martin Singer wrote in a letter Wednesday that Google was “making millions and profiting from the victimization of women.” Singer, who did not reveal which celebrities he is representing, said that the tech giant could be liable for more than $100 million in damages.

The attorney, who said that he sent the Mountain View, California-based company multiple notices of violation of the Digital Millennium Copyright Act in an attempt to get the pictures removed from the website, also wrote that Google knew that the photos were “hacked stolen property, private and confidential photos and videos unlawfully obtained and posted by pervert predators who are violating the victims' privacy rights and basic human decency.”

The incident, which occurred in early September, saw hackers allegedly gain access to cloud storage accounts and steal private (and, in some cases, compromising) photos reportedly belonging to several celebrities, including Jennifer Lawrence, Kate Upton, Victoria Justice, Mary Elizabeth Winstead and Ariana Grande. Shortly thereafter, Apple launched an investigation into iCloud security issues believed to have played a role in the incident.

Singer, who according to Eriq Gardner of the Hollywood Reporter, said that “"Google’s 'Don’t be evil' motto is a sham,” and demanded that the search engine immediately remove all offending images. He also asked the website to preserve all records related to the pictures “pending subpoenas to be issued in the upcoming/pending litigation.”

Following the scandal, Google began conducting an investigation on matters such as fair use and who owns the copyright for a selfie before removing website URLs from its search results, Gardner explained. In the letter, Singer said that the company had a responsibility to the celebrity victims that goes beyond its typical business operations, and also accused it of accommodating YouTube and Blogspot users who posted the offending images.

“If your wives, daughters or relatives were the victims of such blatant violations of basic human rights, surely you would take appropriate action,” the letter said. “But because the victims are celebrities with valuable publicity rights, you do nothing – nothing but collect millions of dollars in advertising revenue from your co-conspirator advertising partners as you seek to capitalize on this scandal rather than quash it… Google has turned a blind eye while its sites repeatedly exploit and victimize these women.”

A Google spokesperson told CNET’s Don Reisinger that the company believed it has acted responsibly, removing tens of thousands of images within hours of receiving the requests. However, Reisinger said that as of Thursday afternoon, CNET was still able to locate some of the nude images using Google’s Image search, though he noted they were “few and far between.”

Singer, who has previously represented actors John Travolta and Charlie Sheen and X-Men director Bryan Singer in high-profile cases, addressed his letter to Google founders Larry Page and Sergey Brin, as well as executive chairman Eric Schmidt and other high-ranking executives with the company, said Philip Sherwell of The Telegraph. The attorney also went on to praise Twitter for his quick action in removing the offending images and suspending the accounts of users that posted them.

“The letter to Google appears at this point to simply be a warning shot, but the attorney left open the possibility of the celebrities suing Google,” Reisinger said. Singer added that “the seriousness of this matter cannot be overstated. If Google continues to thumb its nose at my clients' rights – and continues to both allow and facilitate the further victimization of these women – and disregards the demands of this letter, it does so as its own peril.” Reported by redOrbit 6 days ago.

Nick Hogan Is The First Male Victim Of The Celebrity Photo Hacking Ring

Nick Hogan Is The First Male Victim Of The Celebrity Photo Hacking Ring Hulk Hogan's son Nick Hogan has become the first male celebrity to have his personal photos stolen by a ring of hackers, reports TMZ.

Dozens of photos were stolen from the 24-year-old, including some in which he poses with various girlfriends from over the years, in various states of undress and sexual positions, according to the website.

Hogan told TMZ that some of the photos included in the leak are not his -- specifically a photograph of a penis, and another photo of his mother in a thong. The former reality star also warned hackers that several of the photos of his girlfriends were from his teenage years and taken while they were underage, and thus should be considered child pornography.

Hogan's leak is part of the fourth wave of stolen photos to be released since the end of August. It's believed that it's the work of the same group of hackers who released nude photos of Jennifer Lawrence, Kim Kardashian, Victoria Justice and many other female celebrities.

While the leaks continue week after week, the FBI has already said they were looking into the matter. And last week, Reuters reported that a lawyer representing about a dozen female celebrities who were hacked are threatening to sue Google for failing to remove the stolen photos from its websites.

Request for comment made to Hogan's rep was not immediately returned. Reported by PopEater 3 days ago.

Jennifer Lawrence Says Nude Photo Hack Was A 'Sex Crime' In Vanity Fair Interview

Jennifer Lawrence Says Nude Photo Hack Was A 'Sex Crime' In Vanity Fair Interview Jennifer Lawrence is breaking her silence on the nude photo hack, saying that the incident was not a "scandal," but a "sex crime."

The 24-year-old actress appears on the November 2014 cover of Vanity Fair. Contributing editor Sam Kashner first met with the Oscar-winner on Aug. 13, but after nude photos were stolen from her iCloud and leaked online on Aug. 31, Kashner reached out again in hopes of giving the actress “a chance to have the last word.”

And she had a lot to say.

“Just because I’m a public figure, just because I’m an actress, does not mean that I asked for this,” she told Vanity Fair. “It does not mean that it comes with the territory. It’s my body, and it should be my choice, and the fact that it is not my choice is absolutely disgusting. I can’t believe that we even live in that kind of world."

After the leak -- which claimed numerous other female celebrity victims like Kate Upton, Amber Heard, Kim Kardashian, Gabrielle Union and Victoria Justice -- Lawrence attempted to write a statement or an apology, but stopped. "I don’t have anything to say I’m sorry for," she told Vanity Fair. "I was in a loving, healthy, great relationship for four years. It was long distance, and either your boyfriend is going to look at porn or he’s going to look at you.”

She was disgusted by the gross violation:
It is not a scandal. It is a sex crime. It is a sexual violation. It’s disgusting. The law needs to be changed, and we need to change. That’s why these Web sites are responsible. Just the fact that somebody can be sexually exploited and violated, and the first thought that crosses somebody’s mind is to make a profit from it. It’s so beyond me. I just can’t imagine being that detached from humanity. I can’t imagine being that thoughtless and careless and so empty inside.
Following the hack, the hashtag #ImNotLooking began trending, buoyed by supporters who refused to view any of the nude photos because of the violation it posed.

Lawrence took aim at those who did look at the photos, including people she knows personally.

“Anybody who looked at those pictures, you’re perpetuating a sexual offense," she said. "You should cower with shame. Even people who I know and love say, ‘Oh, yeah, I looked at the pictures.’ I don’t want to get mad, but at the same time I’m thinking, I didn’t tell you that you could look at my naked body.”

Lawrence's rep previously called the leak a "flagrant violation of privacy" and said the authorities had been contacted. Last month, the FBI and Apple announced they are investigating the hacking and unlawful release of material.

Head over to Vanity Fair to read more excerpts from Lawrence's interview. Read the full piece in the November 2014 issue, available digitally on Wednesday and on newsstands Thursday. Reported by PopEater 2 days ago.
